Answers, not guesswork
The questions we get most often about how Press works, how settlement happens, and how your data is handled. If something is missing, email support@pressbet.golf and we will add it.
Getting started
How much does Press cost?
$2.49/month per player. Everyone in the round needs their own Press Pro subscription. Signup is free -- the paywall kicks in the moment you create or accept an invite to a round. Annual billing is $19.99/year if you commit for the season (save 33%).
What do I need to start a round?
A phone, a tee time, and at least one buddy who also has a phone. Pick the course, add your group, choose the games (Nassau, Skins, Wolf, etc.), and send the invite link. Buddies tap the link to join -- no app install required to see the scorecard.
Do my buddies need the app installed?
No. Press works in the browser for anyone joining via invite link. You -- the host -- get the best experience with the app installed (faster entry, home-screen icon, notifications). See the Add-to-Home-Screen prompt after signup.
Which phones does Press support?
Any modern iPhone or Android. Press is a web app (PWA), so it works in Safari, Chrome, and Edge without an App Store download. Install it to your home screen for the best experience.
Games and scoring
Which games does Press support?
Ten: Nassau, Skins, Wolf, Match Play, Nines, Stableford, Bingo Bango Bongo, Vegas, Snake, and Banker. Each has a dedicated rules page at /games/{name} if you need a refresher. You can run multiple games on the same round -- they all settle independently.
Can I press mid-round?
Yes, in Nassau. Either side can call a press when they are down, opening a new match on the remaining holes. Press supports multiple nested presses -- the scorecard tracks each one cleanly so nobody argues about which press is live.
Does my phone need service on the course?
No. Press caches your round locally and syncs when you get back to signal. You can enter scores in a dead-zone 14th fairway and the data shows up for everyone once you hit Wi-Fi or coverage again.
What happens if I enter a wrong score?
Tap the hole on the scorecard and edit it. Corrections sync to every player in the round. The settlement only finalizes when you end the round, so edits during play are always safe.
Settling up
Does Press hold my money?
No. Press is a ledger -- it keeps score, records the games your group chose to play, and calculates who settles up with whom. It never touches money and never handles a transaction. Your group squares up on its own, peer-to-peer, through Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App using the handles you and your buddies set on your profiles.
How does the settlement math work?
At round end, Press tallies each game's winners and losers, then consolidates the ledger. If you owe Dave $20 from Nassau but Dave owes you $8 from Skins, the app nets it to one $12 line: you to Dave. No one squares up three separate times with three buddies -- the whole round collapses into the fewest possible transfers.
What if someone disputes the result?
Each settlement has a status flow: PENDING (calculated) -> PAID (payer marks it done) -> SETTLED (recipient confirms). If there is a disagreement, either side can mark it DISPUTED and the group sorts it out. Press keeps the history so you can see exactly which holes drove the number.
Will I get a 1099-K from Press?
No. Press never touches money -- it keeps score and shows who settles up with whom -- so there is nothing to report from Press. How your group squares up (Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App) follows those platforms' own rules.
Buddies and invites
How do I add a buddy?
Search by name on the Buddies tab. Once you play a round together, they show up in your recent-buddies list for one-tap adds next time.
Can I invite someone who does not have an account?
Yes. The invite link walks them through signup (email + name) and drops them straight into the round accept flow. To actually join, they'll need a Press Pro subscription like every other player -- it's $2.49/month. The invite preview itself is free to look at.
Can I remove a buddy?
Yes. Open the buddy's profile from the Buddies tab and tap Remove. They won't be suggested in future rounds and won't see your round activity.
Account and privacy
How do I cancel Press Pro?
Settings -> Subscription -> Cancel. You keep access until the end of the billing period, then your account and any future rounds pause until you resubscribe.
How is my data handled?
Scores, round history, and settlement records stay with Press. We do not sell your data or advertise against it. See the privacy policy for the full list of what we collect and why.
How do I delete my account?
Settings -> Account -> Delete. We remove your profile, round history, and payment handles. Round data that involves other players is anonymized rather than deleted -- their scorecards stay intact.
I need help with something not on this list. Where do I ask?
Email support@pressbet.golf and we will get back to you. Include the round link if it is a game-specific question -- that lets us look at the exact scorecard.
Still have questions?
Email support@pressbet.golf -- we read every message and answer quickly. Include the round link if it is game-specific.
